Asgard Run is an endless runner a-la
Minion Rush but with a viking theme. At this time, Asgard Run is only available for iOS.
The endless runner genre is pretty saturated so it’s nice to see a game like Asgard Run add something new to the mix. The ovular shape of the track makes for a unique experience and more challenging since you never know what you’re going to run into.
Asgard Run Game Play
Like many endless runners of this ilk, you swipe side to side to dodge blockaids, or swipe up to jump and down to attack. My biggest issue with Asgard Run is not the controls themselves but the responsiveness of those controls. It seemed at random that sometimes I would swipe and my hero wouldn’t react, which of course, ended my game.
Apart for this one issue Asgard Run is a solid game with attractive graphics and fun, familiar game play. As you progress through the game you can buy new weapons and armour for your heroes.
You can experience and level up by completing missions. New heroes become available as you gain levels.
Asgard Run Free and Pay Options
The goal of Asgard Run is not only to run the farthest distance but to pick up as many bonuses as you can along the way. You can pick up gems, safeguard potions, loot chests, multipliers and more. Gems are the most common, and are used to make purchases in the Asgard Run shop.
Asgard Run does exactly what I would expect from a good free to play game. The entire game is available for free with bonus gems, and more available at reasonable prices in the shop. Since Asgard Run isn’t a competitive game, players can’t pay to win except to beat their own score. Prices in the shop range from $1.19 all the way to $119.99. While $120 might be a little absurd, $1.19 will still net you enough coins to make some shop purchases.
If you’re into endless runners, Asgard Run is worth a download and more.
